Butterfly Flutter By

The butterfly has flown away
And now the memories remain
The colours of her wings
Still etched in his mind's eye
The butterfly has flown away
Fluttering with the wind
Flapping her wings, hard
Leaving behind a sad smile
Yet, she remembers
That time she sat on his fingertip
Yet, she remembers
That fleeting moment when she stayed still
Then the gust of wind came
Her wings caught that drift
And she was blown away
She flew away
Leaving behind tiny vortices of wingtip powder
Falling gently on that fingertip
That still stayed still
Till the memories settled down
And he held on to that wingtip powder
Remembering the memories of that fleeting moment
Written for two of my favourite people in the world.

  2. It's amazing that something so delicate can be so powerful. In life, and in memory's keeping...so fragile and yet it meant everything. Thank you for the reminder that though memories stay behind, they do settle down. It can be overwhelming when they stir like a hornets nest. You wonder if peace will ever come to roost.

  3. @ Brian... I do too. Thanks...

@ Wine and words... It's the fragility and it's delicateness that makes it all the more powerful. More often than not, it's us who fail to recognize that.

  5. What I really like about this is how you flit from the man to the butterfly back to the man, showcasing the impact of this meeting from both points of view.

  6. @ Joybird... The last time I did something like that, there were a few people who didn't like it. I hope this time it was a little more likeable :)

    Thanks for the comment.

  10. @ sakhii... Thanks a lot. Haven't seen you around for quite some time, but I don't think that's got much to do with you to be honest. I know I haven't been around much lately... but I hope to remedy that :)

    Cheers,
    Joy...
