Wind…

The sky waited
As did he
The clouds rolled
White, over the blue
The dust lay still on the dusty road
As he waited
But that wind,
She ne'er came

Gentle footsteps
Into the hot afternoon
Dreaming of the sensual touch
The cool breeze against his sweaty arms
Oh, how he missed her
But that wind,
She ne'er came

The evening sky
Set on fire by the setting sun
The world, a visual sigh
A deep breath, of hope
He willed the leaves to move
He willed the dust to rise
To announce her coming
But that wind,
She ne'er came

The stillness crept up
Veiled within the dark night
Crickets and toads and little invisible frogs
They croaked
Wishful thinking hoped
That they were talking to him
"She's coming, wait on,"
But that wind,
She ne'er came

  1. Made me think of the excruciatingly hot summers I spend at my village when I was a little kid. I haven’t been there in years now.. I wonder if the wind still refuses to come lift the dust on those long hot roads :)

    Cheers,
    Annie.

  3. Doesn't he know
    that sometimes
he needs to go to her?
    He needs to start walking
and never mind to the footfall,
    just steady,
    progress,
    and that will be enough.

    Lovely, this one.

  5. @ Erin... He does know that, but there are a few things that tend to make him wait, hold on...

Thanks a lot, Erin :) Hope to see you around, once I get back to town and back to serious blogging again... Cheers...
